St Peter’s church is an active and vital part of the community.

As founders of the feast week celebration in 1754, we are still involved 250 years later, decorating the harbour, leading the community tea and games & of course leading the hymns on the harbour and Flora Dance around the village on the Tuesday evening of Feast Week.

Alongside this, once a fortnight, we take part in the Open the Book initiative in Mevagissey Primary School. Church members, working with people from other churches, go into school in teams, to perform dramatised stories from the Bible.  The Open the Book initiative has been developed by the Bible Society to encourage children to understand stories from the Bible in new and exciting ways.

St Peter’s also presents all the year six leavers with a Bible to mark their transition from primary into secondary school.  We also often host the children from school at the church to learn more about the major Christian festivals and sacraments.
